Wow! Browsing "the net" I found this page. Now I'm being pushed back into the early seventies, when I first saw these gorgeous guys on stage in the wonderful place called "Underground" in Bonn-Bad Godesberg.
I see now: There's nothing better that good memories! ?? |

While sailing the seas in the Navy during the late 70's early 80's Pink Floyd kept me sane, until I was in Germany and discovered Nektar. Being from the Midwest your music was rare to find. TO THIS DAY I put an LP on the record player to soak in the power and energy you put out that is unlike all else that rocks! You are in a class of your own and I have been doing my part to be sure the young of the future know you! Nektar will always be THE ROCK GROUP all others can only dream of being! |

I'm 48, and had never heard of Nektar until about 2 months ago, bought "Remember the Future" and immediately knew I'd somehow missed out on something that my soul felt at home with on first listen. I "Googled" and discovered Roye had JUST passed. I was very saddened but still I have all this great music to discover at this point in my life. I have bought four of the old LP's since then, just got "Magic is a Child" today, listening now, and very grateful I somehow found this music, like a wormhole into the past and future all at once. |

Yeah, I qualify as one of the old guys. I had the early albums for a while before we were treated to a live concert in San Antonio, Texas at the Municipal Auditorium in the early 70s. (That venue burned down some years later, but has been rebuilt and upgraded if youse guys want to come back sometime.) Great show of course with the ground-breaking projector work. Many hours well invested listening to your music... - Thanks for it all. |

On Tuesday July 26th 2016 our planet lost an extremely talented guitarist, vocalist and songwriter... unfortunately most of the world never came to know about him (or Nektar). All during Royes' long fight for health, this site became stagnant, as was thenektarproject as per Royes' requests. Well,...my mind is gently weeping 'cos it's all over now. Rest in peace my brother in time since 1969, the remaining Nektar friends, fans and family will forever remember that your future was ours to see. Peace. |

RIP Roye. I am very sadden to of heard of his passing. I've been a fan since the Release of Remember the Future. I have seen Nektar live since the Recycled Tour & have been very lucky to have seen them in various forms every time they have been in the Tri-State area. I have been blessed to have met them several times & have hang out with them at various venues. Yes, I considered myself a groupie & a die hard fan. I am deeply sadden by the news of Roye & send out my love & condolences to the Band & to his family & loved ones. I will never forget him or Nektar & all the good times I have had in my endeavors associated with them. I will continue to listen & promote them & their brilliant music. |

I absolutely love Down to Earth. I had never heard of Nektar until several years ago when an older friend played me Remember the Future. I knew right away that the musicians of Phish had listened to your music and found stylistic inspiration. Listening to Nelly the Elephant I knew for sure I was right about Phish's album "A Picture of Nectar" ... When I heard of the enormous amounts of oranges elephants eat I was immediately reminded of how the album cover image is orange skin. You sirs, your music, I will proselytize as being a rediscovered treasure, thank you |

I remember a concert at Hofstra University Playhouse in Hempstead,Long Island it was back in 1977. A nice place for a band of your concepts and intimate type atmosphere to perform. I believe that this mishap occurred during the encore of the show.A special effect , I guess a flashpot ,prematurely went off ,catching the bassist Mo Moore off guard. He fell backwards and some audio feedback blasted through the sound system like a sonic boom. The audience just considered it part of the whole experience of a spectacular show. What amazed me , was that Mo just kept playing like nothing really happened. My group was just glad he or no one else suffered any injuries. It was just one of those crazy old nights I guess. It's a treat to know that the touring is still going on to this day. When and if Nektar plays the metro NY area , I will be in that audience to see yet another fantastic concert, like no other bar none! |

My older sister introduced me to Nektar in the early 70's.(Remember The Future)The album totally changed our outlook on life, music, and the lyrics within. Your Albums played deep into the night during many an "all nighter" always enjoyed by everyone.I saw your performances a few times through the years @ M.R.F. in Edwardsville and most recently a small club in Illinios outside St. Louis. Still Great, Still Inspirational. I got a chance to talk to the band after the show and walked away with the song list for the scrap book. Thanks Guys for all the years of keeping my head straight. I had the great fortune of meeting Ron Howden and playing a few songs at a party he was playing the other night. What a delight it was to meet him and of course to tell him I was a big Nektar fan. It was a surprise 50th birthday party for my cousin and Ron was filling in for someone who called out days before. My cousin said "that's the guy I've been playing with and some hippies he brought along, the guy on drums is probably one of their dads" I said "actually dude that's the drummer from Nektar"!! " What??!! The drummer from Nektar is at my house!!?" Anyway it was great to meet him, seemed such a genuine guy and of course I've been revisiting all my Nektar vinyl since I got home. Sound great of course! What a fun story to tell all my prog rock friends too. If there's ever a show a reasonable distance away from my home in VT I'll be there for sure. Thanks Ron! |

I was probably one of the 1st canadian fans in the 70's, I spread the word and the music far and wide. I was at massey hall for the 1st tour, just the original band doing RTF, and the next tour with larry for Recycled. roye T was god, melodic fire...mo was the coolest rolling bass man...ron was probably one of the most underrated drummers during that time and taff added that padded richness on keys. will never forget doing air guitars in front of my light organ for every nektar song. I have the dvd, you guys were great back together. wish I could find some footage of the new york show that was recorded. proud to be here, a fan forever! |

I have to post a quick comment here about the recent Nektar tour of the USA. To put it plain and simply, they were absolutely fantastic. The band was as tight as could be, Roye was at the top of his game, singing great and of course he is a brilliant guitarist. The rest of the band were terrific as well. Thank you Nektar for putting on a masterclass performance in Chicago. And I alos want to say how much I am enjoying the new album,Time Machine,it is outstanding. |

I've been a very enthusiastic fan of Nektar since the early '70's and I'm happy to see them continuing to play together and quite well at that. Looks like I'll have to pick up some of the newer albums since I haven't heard anything new since "Magic is a Child" which I don't really consider a true Nektar album since Roye didn't contribute to it. Keep it up! |

Hello Nektar. I'm happy you will be back in Pittsburgh! Of course you won't remember, but my friend and I sat and talked with you in Pittsburgh after your concert there at the hotel bar/restaurant. God...it must have been around 1975? Wow! You told us some great touring stories! You guys were the nicest bunch! Thanks for that great memory! We'll see you again on June 21st!! |

Guys, you rock. Stumbled into your music by watching a "sendung mit der Maus" from 1976 with my little son on YouTube. Was the track "Good Day" which made my day great. Have to admit that I never heard about you guys before, even if I grew up with my older brothers music, who loved to listen to Deep Purple, but as well Kansas, Yes and that stuff. They are all gone and you are still around; amazing. Btw I love "Over Krakatoa" - greetings from Hamburg, all the best for your tour. |

Guys,
Thanks for taking the time to tour on the MSC Poesia. I had never heard Nektar music and I was truly blown away - almost literally with the wind on some days.
Really enjoyed the full "Remember the Future" in the Pigalle lounge and "Man in the Moon" was killer.
Looks like I have lots of CDs to buy.
Hope to see you again soon.

I was listening to your album this weekend; haven't heard in years.....brought me way back. I'm in my third bout with leukemia...not responding to treatment very well this time so I may go this time (I accept it and all good in the big scheme of the Creator). But I will say this: Thank you for the songs, the vinyl, the rhythm, the opportunity to see you live so many many years ago. We were truly blessed to have lived thru those times and you were a great part of it! Thanks a million, Chris Perkins Swarthmore, Pa.

got turnd on to Nektar in the early seventies while looking thru second hand records in my favorite record store PooBahs in Pasadena California, I saw the cover for A Tab in the Ocean, liked the cover and bought it for the cover alone. when I played it I thought what idiot sold this album it's a masterpiece, I immediatly took it to my friends house and played it for several of my friends, that was it we were all blown away. we went out that evening to PooBahs and went through the import section and bought all of the Nektar albums they had. we could not get enough of this epicurian music. I eventually got to see Nektar at the Santa Monica Civic Theater for the Remeber the Future Tour, still have my ticket stub to this day. I was 10 rows from the stage, the light show was awe inspiring, Jimi Hendrix appeared before my eyes in bits and pieces and colours. to this day I still reguard this as the best concert I've ever seen and I've seen hundreds. wish you'd come to Australia where I now live, and play a few gigs as no one believes me as how mind expanding you are live. As the old addage goes "once your mind is expanded to a new dimension it can never shrink back to the old dimension" the only thing that expanded me more, was Peoyte buttons, and having 5 beautiful children and all the love they bring into my life. you guys are truly a mind altering substance... THANKS FOR THE TAB IN my OCEAN of life |

Hello, my friend Franke Lutz always talks about you guys. How he he played guitar with ya'll back in the 1970's when he was stationed in Germany. Sat in with you for fun a few times. I know that's a long time back and you've met many folks. He looked a lot like Eric Clapton in the 70's if that helps. Franke still has a ticket from one of your 70's shows. He's tried to contacting you but to avail and disapointed. Is there any way you can write him.? (Thesteeldrumman.com) or Franke Lutz/facebook. He still plays beautiful guitar, also steel drums and has taught me the drums. Thanks -from Florida |

I Am a Nektar Fan Since the Early 70's.I Seen Nektar On Their First Ill Fated Tour to America. At Alex Cooleys Electrick Ballroom in Atl. Ga.The First Band to Play Was a Mediocre Band Called Illusions,The Played till About 10 Pm.There Wasn't Many People There to Begin With But When Nektar Came on Most People Left,Remember this Was Down South and Skynyrd and The Allman Bros.and the Like Were Popular,Anyway Nektar Must Have Been Dissapointed in the Response Because After a Song or Two They Left the Stage. But Albrighton Came Back Out And Did a One Hour Solo That Was Very Impressive and Highly Enjoyable.I'll Remember it The Rest of My Days.I Only Wish it Was on Video.Believe Me It Was Well Worth the Admission Price.$5.75 |

I followed the band through the 70's from the East coast. My first concert of Nektar was 1973 during 'Remember the Future' and was absolutely blown away with Mick Brockett's talent. Always a fan of Roye Albrighton even with Defroster. I had designed my show vehicle with their permission for artwork from the albums. I had everything on vinyl until I became homeless. I will now rebuild my collection and look forward to new releases. |

Back to the Future. When first hearing this album which I have on vinyl it was a defining moment that has stayed with me. I last saw NEKTAR May 1, 2009 at ROSFEST, and the show was fantastic!... I have just "recovered" from another FEST, namely NEARFEST ( APOCALYPSE ), so named because sadly, it is to be the last NEARFEST. I was at NEARFEST 2002 which featured the reformed NEKTAR; this last one reminded me of that 2002 event. ..And so BILLY SHERWOOD is recording with NEKTAR! Perhaps a Rickenbaker bass Could be used! |

Goes to show that when putting in random favourite group names into google, what you can find! I still can't believe that this band is up & running again. I came across Nektar by trawling through some LP's in a small record shop in Manchester during the 70's and I took a flyer on 'Tab in the Ocean'. Didn't regret the choice and have had a soft spot for Nektar ever since buying other great albums by them. Remember the Future?....I sure as hell, do!! |

I alwaxys loved the music made by Nektar. But the lightshow was the best one I ever saw. I went to a concert in Germany Rendsburg Nordmarkhalle in the early 70s. The played with Curved Air and Status Quo. What a mix. I saw the lightshow and was addicted to that. Today I perform lightshows myself and I work with regional bands or artist. Did anyone else visit that concert ?

I can only try to tell this band called NEKTAR how much you have meant to me and how special their music and the individuals are also. To Ron, Derek, Alan, and Roye you have given me something that I would not want to lose even in the afterlife. To Roye I say that your talent is unmatched in melodic, creativity, and talent. Not to mention vocal talent to boot. You are the man when it come to the whole package.
To Ron, What you have done with your incredible talent as the percussionist are second to none also. You are also on the top of my list for your extraordenary part in this group effort that instrumentally stands second to none. Your dedication to the accomplishments of your band are there for everyone that listens.
To Derek, I never knew a bass player could do so much to compliment and elevate a bands music before hearing what you have accomplished. Once again, I put you atop of the rest for your talents and creating special and coordinated music that is second to none.
To Alan, and your famous Mellitron and keyboard contributions I say your creative, special, coordination and one of a kind keyboard style is yet another part of an incredible uniting by chance(or maybe by a blessing above) of four very special individuals who have given a treasure of music that stands second to none to many of us.
And to think that I discovered you fellows totally by accident. There was a friend of mind who wanted to trade 8-tracks and there was this blue cased as so many of Bellaphons tapes were back then. It said Remember The Future on it. And it totally changed my future for sure. I have all of your music and always will.
Also to the newer members and all of the other members of the past Randy Dembo, Tom Hughes, Dave Nelson, Carmine Rojas, Dave Prater, and present Peter Pichl and Klaus Henatsch. Glad to have had and still have you guys.
In closing also would like to include Larry "Synergy" Fast, the English choir, and the German circus members too! |

If the band comes back to the US again, you should play a venue called The Scottish Rite Auditorium. It is located in Collingswood, New Jersey. ( about ten minutes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). People such as Richard Thompson, Ian Anderson, Procal Harum and Kansas have play this 1,000 seat beauty. I'm sure that you would find an appreciative audience that is just dying to see Nektar again. I saw Nektar a few years ago at the Keswick Theater and they were great. Hope to see you guys soon. Ron |

The whole band was spot on!Roye-I was the one to the left of you-sitting on the stage soaking up the incredible sounds-remember?? I truly do hope you come back next year-I will be there!! Thanks again for a great night!! |

The Hollywood show was spectacular. If I had only one word to describe it: tight. It was my first Nektar show and I was amazed at how spot on the band played. They are a great live band, giving a little extra finesse to their already brilliant catalogue of sound. It was hot in that small venue, but I couldn't resist dancing my heart out. Seriously the best show this Detroit rocker has ever been to. My husband thanked me profusely for dragging him to the show.
Thanks boys! We truly love you!! |

Saw Nektar at their last U.S. show in San Juan Capistrano, CA, on September 2 and it was pure joy to see Roye and the band! They didn't play Remember the Future, which I missed, but they played a lot of other great stuff. I had never seen them before, but I have been a fan since the 70's. Klaus on the keyboards was really good and quite funny! Fun to watch him make faces, etc., as he played. I hope you guys ome back again soon!! Love you! |

I wanted to drop in here and post about the Space Invasion Tour. Nektar were fantastic, one of the best performances I have seen in years, by anybody. The band was brilliant, it was my first time seeing Klaus on keyboards and he is the real deal, just a great player who has the old material down pat and adds much to the newer stuff that they played, Dr. Kool and King Of The Deep. The bass player was excellent also, I assume he was just filling in for Peter for this tour but he was really good and stayed in the back round, very low key but spot on. Ron was his usual outstanding self , one of my very favorite drummers, never missed a beat, a true professional of the highest order. And for Roye he proved what all of us know already who have followed this band loyally through the years, he is absolutely one of the best guitar players that I have ever seen, he is Roye, nobody sounds like him and he sounds like nobody else. A master. And a great front man also, he is singing great these days, sure his voice isn't the same but he still sings so well. And he is also such a great songwriter. These guys deserved much larger crowds than they got for this tour, but that didn't stop them from giving their all every night. I can not wait for the new album, can't wait to hear a full band album from Nektar, I know I would also love it if they re-recorded Book Of Days with the full band, Roye did what he could but that album would be fantastic with the entire band playing. I know it's easy for me to say because these things cost money but one can hope can't one? Thanks again guys, you were brilliant. |

Awesome show in Sellersville, PA August 21st, 2011! Thanks for the autographs on my Recycled CD cover. It's now framed with the Space rock gig poster which is signed by 2 members of Brainticket who also put on a good show. It will be hanging in my home recording studio and enjoyed for years to come. Hope to see you back here in the future. There's a very cool venue in Bethlehem, PA called Steel Stacks that is a RECYCLED old steel mill who's stacks are visible behind the stage. - NEKTAR ROCKS! _ |

Hi all
My wife , friend & I extremly enjoyed your Santa Rosa, "Last Day Saloon" gig.
It was short but sweet. I'm the one with the 1977 original $5.00, ticket from your gig @ Bekeley Community Theater. The last time I had a chance to see you. We are the one's who gave Ron the Ganja. Glad you enjoyed.
And PLEASE!!! Don't let the capacity on a Thursay night disgruntel you from coming back our way. Try the Independent in San Francisco on your next US tour.

I was at the Milwaukee, Lincolnshire and Darien shows. Well people let me say those 3 shows were not enough. More, more, more, more!! Truly the best time listening to not only the amazing Nektar but Brainticket and Huw Lloyd-Langton. Roye mixed up the set list, how cool is that? I was so happy with the performance that a handshake was not enough, so I gave Roye a big hug! HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED MUST SEE SHOW! NEKTAR IS ALIVE AND VERY WELL! HURRY BACK! |

Saw you in '75 & 77 in Cleveland. Amazing shows ... you really blew away the opening acts at the '77 Music Hall concert (they didn't even belong on the same stage). I thought I'd never have another chance to see you again. Unfortunately, I missed the 2005 gig at the Agora (never even heard about it). And then out of nowhere, you show up at the Beachland. Awesome. Brought me right back to the 70's. Couldn't have done it better. Great bass & keyboard work from the new guys to compliment the usual great work from Roy & Ron! And the lights? It was flashback time, without even any drugs. Only negative was that nobody commented on (or even noticed?) my trademark Nektar segmented body tattoo on my arm. Guess everybody was just too spaced out from the whole stunning experience! |

I am THRILLED to find your web page! A long time ago, 1975 probably, a group of us saw you perform at a small club near the Wisconsin border, not far from Chicago. The place was called the Night Gallery. You did a show that was phenomenal, and then announced that you would be back for a second night, the next night. Well...we all came back the next night, but because there was no promo for it, there were only about 20 fans. Instead of playing you set list, you asked for requests. It was great! You guys took a break and a couple of you came over to our table and sat and had a drink with us. As I said, a LONG time ago, but still a great memory. THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC AND THE MEMORIES! |

I love your music and so does my best mate and I reckon you guys should be performing in Sydney and Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. I just sent of venue details to you. Uriah Heep and jethro Tull play here and you guys are Heeps better so where are you????
The music you produce is so very tasty and cool and professional and is sure a hit with baby boomers like us as well as a whole lot of younger concert goers. The baby boomers here are very heavy concert goers. I saw Deep Purple sometime ago and thousands go to the Sports Stadium, ACER ARENA etc. Let me know if you want some info. Santana are here, please come. You guys are the best!!

In the early '70s, while at university, my musical tastes shifted to progressive rock, and of course to Nektar. There are very few bands in this world that have touched me emotionally as Nektar. Whenever I listen to any album, I either have a massive smile on my face or I'm crying like a baby. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. |

I recently saw Roger Waters perform The Wall in Washington DC. Anytime I see a "proggy" act like Waters, The Australian Pink Floyd, or a local Pink Floyd band named Several Species, I always "Show the colors" and wear my favorite black Nektar T-shirt. You'd be surprised how many people smile, cheer, and call out "Hey Nektar!" I encourage the rest of you to do the same. Make sure people know that NEKTAR LIVES! |

Hi Everybody,
I´m sitting here with my 17 year old daughter talking about bands I heard when I was younger. Looking by lastfm we found your Band. Could it be that you lived in Seeheim, Germany about 35 years ago? If that´s so I remember listening to Rod Stewart in your living room ;- )drinking some wine. And naturally see you at a concert. Fine that your still playing. |

Coincidence I am sure, but anyways I was watching flashforward today, the new show you know, and one of the characters mentioned the phrase "...we were special, we could Remember the Future". Kinda wierd since their was a flashforward team or group that used to disseminate info on Nektar in the mid 2000's I believe, maybe Roye and the boys had ESP or as I say ESPN. Freaky. |

I discovered Nektar with Remember the Future, which is STILL in the top 10 of my all-time favorite discs. I was lucky enough to see the band live at the Hoffeinz Pavillion in Houston TX in 1974, an amazing show. I was also pleased to be a part of the presale to finance the Evolution disc, and thought it was a real rush to see my name listed in the credits. I LOVE this band. With they'd come back to TX! |

I was stationed at HAHN AB, near Sohren, West Germany during the mid-Seventies. So, I guess you could almost say I was there at the beginning. I have almost all of releases now, on vinyl. I wish I could find them all on CD (the original cuts, that is). I do have them in MP3 from the vinyl, using a USB record player, but having them on CD would really be nice. Still listen all the time. Glad I found your Site. Keep on playing! |

I first met you guys in 1975. I was out of high school for a year or so, college was not going well. The Moody Blues had broken up, and I was looking for a new band to follow. Then came DOWN TO EARTH. What drew me to you guys was the really tight rhythm section, crisp, clean, and very tastefully, and artfully done. The lyrics were interesting to say the least. I've been a fan of the hollow body ES335 sound for my whole adult life. What a great sound, what a great album, what a great band. Thanks for years of pleasure guys.

I was a teen in the mid 70s, who was witnessing the music scene cynically abandoning the artistic values & standards I so treasured from a few years before. One day I was going through the "delete" bin of a department store in my small prairie Canadian town, when I spotted the fantastic psychedelic sleeve of "Remember the Future". I'd never heard of Nektar but the album looked really promising so I bought it. I've been a huge Nektar fan ever since, and it's so great to have the band still with us. Before the internet age it was *really* hard to get any information in western Canada about Nektar, but at least I managed to get most of the albums. Nowadays the Pure DVD is the thing I play most - love every minute of it. Hope you're with us for a good while yet guys!! |

What a lucky day 40 years (+ 1 day) ago, as 4 boys decided to form a band they called Nektar later. Thank you for such magic moments not only at concerts which enriched my life. Thanks for keeping this music alive and I'm looking forward to the next album. Gerhard |

I just pulled out my turntable, after too many years, and am enjoying "Journey..." and vaguely recalling our visits to the house in Deutschland. Taffy, Roye, Mick, Mo and Ron, thanks for signing the cover. You may recall the inner art. You guys were at somebody's dinner table. You'll certainly not recall the "soldiers" that visited you while we were stationed in Darmstadt, I was surprised that I remembered considering the altered state of consciousness we were usually in when out and about. Those visits were the highlight of my tour in Germany. I will follow your tour schedule. We'll make the effort to catch you live, hopefully in Michigan. Here's hoping Keith and Mick are still making magic... |

Old time English fan of the band, first album (still have it) was 'Sounds Like This' Listening to the album on Nektar Radio as I write, personally I prefer the original mix, but that's probably just a preference for the familiar. Tried to put where I live at the moment but, since you don't have Egypt on your drop down list had to enter the UK instead.
Always been amazed that more muso's aren't familiar with Nektar, I've always rated you as one of the very best rock bands I've seen and certainly deserving your place way up on my playlist.
Long may you continue to rock and create superb music. Thanks for being.... well, I suppose the only real superlative I can use is........NEKTAR! |

I saw the band at the Borderline in London last week and they were absolutely superb the songs from 'Book of Day's', "King of the Deep" and "Dr Kool" are getting better everytime i hear them and the version of "Preacher" that night was awesome. Only downside for me was that it was, by Nektar standards, a relatively short set but nevertheless a great atmosphere with the band in great form. Looking forward to the next time. |

Borderline At last since the release of Tab in the Ocean I have now been able to see you guys live! It must be disheartening to play such a small venue with hardly a full house. Opening with "Tab" must be the Nektar's cult trademark! I must say thanks as I felt it was a prebirthday treat (3rd) I may be 54 but that night I felt more like 24. To me it was a fantastic night and I hope to see you again (next year? I think was said) with the venue and audience numbers you deserve. Again a BIG Thanks Alan |

I also saw the band in Bristol.Dissapointing turnout but what a show.I had been trying to see them since the early seventies so this was a dream come true.I would have thought a few curious Iron Maiden fans might want to see what influenced Steve Harris & co in their prog side.I hope the poor attendance doesnt put the band off playing the uk again,i for one need to see them again.fantastic gig,one of the greatest bands ever. |

Waldbuhne, Northeim, Germany 29 August 2009 Well we eventually made it to see the legendary Nektar at an open air venue (from Edinburgh, Scotland). The band began with a fantastic rock n' roll rendition of Crying in the Dark then motored into Doctor Kool and King of the Deep from the Book of Days album- excellent, excellent and eeeer...excellent. The sound was good overall and I was personally satisfied to hear you guys ripping almost uncontrollably into "A Day in the Life of a Preacher" - what a track and when it's done live and well it really cements itself into your head. Recycled was the swansong to your 'live" hour and it was executed with electrifying accuracy. We thoroughly enjoyed it all however we felt that there was not enough time for you 4 to really get going...in otherwords an hour and a half would have , perhaps given more opportunities for you to play with...still it was an experience that we will never forget so thanks for this great memory. Although all my professional photographic gear was confiscated and deposited into a local fire truck at the entrance, we managed to get some shots which we will, very shortly, put onto the fanzine pix. We have just read of the poor fan showing at Cardiff and Bristol thru fans Ian and Alan respectively...this echoes this major concert we witnessed which really is a shame. I can tell you that at the college i work at there will be at least 15 bodies wishing to see you fully live and i am sure that with a bit of the old third line whip being implemented many more would come to see you play in Edinburgh or Glasgow (eg ABC Glasgow)....well done..first time for us but certainly not the last...Allan and Catherine McGregor |

As with the comments of those who saw the band at Bristol I saw them last night at Cardiff. Crap turnout but I was stunned by the quality and the musicianship. To quote Alan in this blog - 'vigour & emotion' indeed sums it up. Rather ironic that on leaving the gig there were 100 scantily clad girls waiting to enter the place and transform it into a nightclub - how sad. |

Having bought Down To Earth back in '74 and buying all the albums since then, I have to say that it was a privilege to finally see Nektar in concert last night in Bristol. An absolutely scorching gig, and I was transfixed for whole 2 hrs or more! A real shame about the crap turnout, but thank you all for playing with such vigour and emotion, and blowing me away! |

Hi Nektar Fans,
Glad to be one myself and continue to hear the excellent music of this amazing band. Been a long time gone, but had a hankering for some Nektar. I spotted the niffy t-shirts and have to buy one before they're sold out! First song I had to hear was "Burn Out My Eyes"/"Void of Vision." I like the easy intro on guitars mixed with the spacey. Then of course I had to add "Remember the Future-Part 2" with the same beauty.
Thanks and rock on Nektar,
Jeff |

SALUDOS |

You brought us to fantastic dreams by playing a music, that took us like a magic bus to horizons, i`ve never been again. When I hear your music..Voyage to the centre.. it touches me to tears. I hope, you know what gift you made to us with your music. Thank you for that. Time cannot return, but perhaps we hear you one day in Tübingen. Was at NYC 5/04 show. Front row, stage left, in a church pew. Hell, I've been in a church only a handful of times in the last 50 years, making exceptions for celebrations of sacraments, weddings, funerals and now Nektar? Show me no rules. Very small, yet enthusiastic crowd. Roye, Ron, Klaus & Peter played for us like we were 20,000 strong @ Madison Square Garden. You can't ask for more than that. Thanks. |

Hi Nektar, I love you guys for 35 years. Here's what I believe. Have You Heard?
Ephesians 3:2. Have you heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to Paul for you? This is a strange sentence, isn’t it? What does this mean? Well, let me give my opinion on the matter so you can either accept or reject it. I want to know if you’ve heard about some really good news. I want to know if anyone has ever told you something very important. I want to know if you listened to the person who tried to tell you. I want to know if you started hearing it, but you stopped because you thought that you knew what they were going to say. Maybe some preconceived notion stopped you from giving audience. Maybe someone told you something wrong and you rightfully stopped listening. I’d like for you to give me a chance to tell you something that you may never have heard of, something wonderful for you. God gave Paul a story that is very easy to understand, and at the same time, very deep. Paul had been given the Gospel, and he dispensed it to the world. This is the story of your need, God’s meeting your need, and your reception of God’s provision. Paul was the first person that God revealed this mystery to. God did this for you. Let me tell you the mystery. First of all, we all need forgiveness. This is a fact, whether or not we believe it. We need forgiveness because we have done wrong, at one time or another. If you think you have never done wrong, you may as well stop reading now. Second of all, God has provided our forgiveness through the actions of a Person. We could never earn forgiveness, and so God sent Jesus to earn our forgiveness for us. This is the meaning of the grace of God. Grace means undeserved kindness, and it is found in Jesus. Jesus the Christ is our representative before God. We could not affect our own forgiveness, so Jesus took the punishment we deserved. He was born of a virgin and so started the human race anew, without sin! Jesus lived the only good life. A religious person cannot believe this. Even the average Joe thinks he’s going to Heaven because he is good. But the fact is, all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. Only Jesus is good. Good Jesus died in our place and received our punishment when he bore our sins. He rose from the dead and verified everything He said and did. He alone conquered death. Third of all, how do we receive all this good stuff? Is it by becoming religious? No! Is it by trying to earn forgiveness and denying all that Jesus has done? No! Is it by pushing all this out of our minds and ignoring our need? No! This is how to receive forgiveness and a new life. All you have to do is believe the story. When you believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, you are completely forgiven, no matter how you feel. Your happy ending is certain, and this knowledge will help you overcome the hardships of life. All you must do is continue to believe, and God will do the rest. |

A quiz on facebook asking for your top 15 most influential albums got me remembering your Recycled album. As a novice guitarist at the time, I wore that record out back in the 70s. I remember every moment of the music and every moment of my life at that time...... So obviously, the lp was in my top 3.. the other two were Yes Close to the edge, and ELP Brain Salad Surgery. I was disapointed when I could not find Nectar on iTunes but then my sister reminded me of the spelling and immediately downloaded the album and played it all last night. To me, it is still as fresh today as the day I first heard it. I did my jog this morning with it and I got so into it that I didn't notice the miles going by. I can't wait to get more of your work and I am so happy that you are still at it.... I can't find any Nektar T-shirts on your store. I would love to get my hands on one.. I bought the "remember the future" album because I liked the album cover and unlike some others that I picked up for that reason I fell in love with the music. that was 1977 I think?? I Have been a bass player in bands since before then and NEKTAR has been a large influence in my playing style.I never got to see NEKTAR and don't know if they ever came my way (cincinnati, oh)but I have always been there in spirit.it is great that you are still out there and performing for the fans,"live is the only way to make the music live, thank you very much |

Was privileged to see Nektar at a small club in Southern California called the Golden Bear located in Huntington Beach. I was the only person there to bring in a 35mm camera. I took a lot of excelent slide photos(over 70). I got adventurous and craweled on stage to take pictures from different perspectives such as lying on the stage looking up the bass players mic stand with him looking down at me. When security tried to remove me they were waved away by the guitar and bass player. I then proceeded to take as many excellent photos as I could including close ups of the drummer. It was a superb multi-media show (lights, lasars and moviescreen backdrop). All this in a small club. P.S. they played the King of Twilight for me. |

I discovered Nektar when a friend lent me his copies of Recycled and Magic Is A Child in 1985. I found the music refreshing, interesting, and positive. I ended up getting other Nektar albums, and enjoy them to this day. My favourites are A Tab In The Ocean and Down To Earth. I read that in the seventies you guys toured at one point with Triumvirat, who are my all time favourite group. I have never seen you guys live, but would like to. Will you play near Ottawa,Canada? That would be cool. By for now! |

First heard Nektar in 1974 and had the great good fortune of seeing them on October 14, 1976 at the Electric ballroom. Roye and Mo Moore have had more influence on my guitar playing than David Gilmour or Steve Howe. My dream was to sit and chat with Roye. Nektar formed part of my life's psyche through their music and poetry and productions. They got me through my teens.
Please come to Minneapolis next tour! |

THank you everyone who came to our shows for this Autumn tour. I would like to thank those who made our first show in London for many years a real treat, it was so great to see so many old friends and of course meet new ones. Special thanks to Carina and the Mean Fiddler Organization and of course to Didier and the team at the Borderline. A very special thanks to all those who travelled many miles to see us, and if we forgot to greet anyone..it was only because we were overwhelmed.
Thank you ALL Roye |

Hi Y'all ...
Yep. I actually do "remember the first time" although it has been 36 years to date, years filled at times even beyond the brim, with so much happening that likely better storytellers than myself might have had a hard time knowing how to start (and then, of course, worse: Where, how and when, or even why to end).. some early or late summer evening, riding the electric streetcar into town, having managed to make it past the at times a little weird doorkeeper Walter presumably only because he liked the sweet blonde little teenage inspiration I was with (whom her father had called "my little Salomé" the other evening and who had dragged me along in the first place with an irresistible "You simply must see them", which usually posessed the tendency to make me even more wary) - Walter, who, as any true doorman, naturally had the power to refuse you entry without even giving a morsel of explanation, which he, as naturally, often did, mischievously peeking at the folks wandering down the steps of a curved concrete staircase through an opening riveted into an old metal door painted black and looking rather used, that once, who knows, might have even belonged to an air raid shelter that survived the bombardment the city had been subjected to during the night of Sept 1944, with an expression that might have borne the resemblance of a mischievous glint, walking into the old wine cellar rooms that were Marten Schiemer's "Underground" Club in Darmstadt way back then. The band was in the middle of a set, somewhere at the back of a rectangular room maybe 15 meters deep, a maximum 5 to 6 meters wide, with the equipment set up at floor level closely together if my memory serves me well, kids dancing away in extasy, flashed on by strobe and ultraviolet lights that gave you the whitest teeth imaginable, others perched on the floor in rows right up to the feet of the players.... Gawd, it does bring back memories. So what can I say as a then youngster who just practised his first chords on guitar, suddenly really smack dab in the middle of something mindblowing already well under way, that soon was going to sweep him across the vastness of continents only a little later, which of course he did not realise there and then.
Really a treat to witness this portal has been coming along ...
Bestest Regards & Wishes to You All, T:-)mmi |

Wow. It is such a great feeling to see one of my all time favorite bands back at it. I still remember being drawn to Tab in the Ocean because of the cool cover back in 1978. Listening to the album was a seminal surprise and began a 30 year love affair with Prog Rock/ Psych rock! I've always loved the guitar work on every album. Some of the rifs on Prodigal Son are excellent and I've been appreciating the jams on evolution. Nice to see you guys making music again. Come to America!!!! |

I had Tab in the Ocean when it came out but I didn't really appreciate it at the time....recently I bought it again on ebay and realised how good it was...have just been buying every original Nektar album i can find...both JTTCOTE and particularly Sounds Like This are superb dynamic albums, hard to believe that Sounds Like This is not hailed as one of the great 70s records. In my opinion, along with the mighty King Crimson, one of the few bands worthy of the title Progressive Rock. Great to see this awesome band still have a following - count me in! Peace |

I've been a fan of Nektar since hearing Remember The Future on 'Room To Move' on radio station 2BL in 1973.
Their music & lyrics reminds me how vast the harmonic universe is and how this vastness, when reflected & opened within us, can be filled with music.
Nektar music increases vibrations & opens me up to new ideas & more effective ways of thinking, feeling & expressing.# |

I have been a fan of Nektar since the 70s when I was introduced to the band by listening to "Down to Earth" on a Passport label when I bought it in a cheapie 99 cent rack at a local department store that has since gone belly up. I was very impressed by the songs on it. I never found another copy of it anywhere else since. Ten years later, I was bumming around a used record store in Boston and r |

Remember the first gigs back in the late 60`s in the Darmstadt area, Germany, when NEKTAR performed at a school party of my "Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium" (LGG)... Although I (then about 15 years old) wasn`t interested too much in music tha |

Well, the window closed as stated on the fans Tab of Ocean. I can understand your feeling as to why but the needs of many out weigh the meanness of a few. Never the less, I will see you in St. Louis and digest some food for thought with you via other waves... You are still dear near to my heart, soul and mind. I Salute you, for still going onwards and upwards.

At first I was VERY dissappointed when heard about the postponed tour dates.
But, then it will give everyone the necessary time to put on the "Killer Show" you spoke of.
Can't wait to see the newly scheduled shows at the recently renovated REGAL Theatre in Arlington, Mass.
Best of Luck !

Congratulations on your triumphant return and tour. Best of luck to you all. Thank you for writng such incredible music.I grew up with with Nektar in my early teens mid 70's. I listen to your music for hours getting lost in the lyrics and the melody while killing some brain cells. I managed to retain the important ones that later in life proved useful for business and success. All thanks |
